Mature Movers started in 2004 and is a constituted community group based in Eccles, Salford. Originally a exercise class for over 50's, the ladies needed a new teacher in 2006 and Martina Coggins took the group over and led them in a new direction. The ladies began to learn simple dance routines as well as exercises. Soon the ladies were growing in confidence and many had always wanted to perform onstage.

The ladies first performed at The Met Theatre in Bury as part of DIGM's Celebration of Dance and Older People afternoon. After a quick drink in Yates' across the road stars were born! With a taste for the stage the ladies slowly started to reduce the exercise element of the class and began concentrating on routines to perform.

Over the years the ladies have performed at many theatres across Greater Manchester including: The Lowry, Contact Theatre, Robert Powell and The Met. As well as gracing the stage the ladies regulary perform for local care homes and day centres in Salford. The ladies perfom for a small donation and have regular slots at many homes. The ladies also perform at local events to raise money for charity such as St Ann's Hospice, and local community events such as Eccles & Ordsall Festival, Eccles Farmers Market, etc.

In 2014 the ladies won an award for contibrutions to the community something they are immensely proud of.

We are always looking for new members and you don't have to perform if you dont want to we have several ladies that just enjoy the social aspect of the group.

The ladies meet every TUESDAY 10.15-11.15am at the Rainbow Rooms Community Centre, Liverpool Road, Eccles, M30 0QN

The ladies pay £2 subs every week to cover room hire and dance teacher fees and costumes.
